My visa is a visitors' one that lasts for 30 days. Over stay and you pay a daily fine - the money can soon add up. Here's how the Visa Run works: Drive to the Abu Dhabi border, park the car and walk up to the customs post. Fill in various forms, get them all stamped, get them looked at by lots of different (mostly friendly) people in different rooms and then hand over 25 Dirhams. Get your passport stamped. Now walk through no man's land (pictured above) to the Oman border. Fill in various forms, get them all stamped, get them looked at by lots of different people in different rooms and then pay them 60 Dirhams. Get your passport stamped and walk back to the Abu Dhabi border (about 500m). More paper, more stamps, all very polite and it took about an hour. Now I can stay for another 30 days and then I will have to repeat the process.
